Soup days Tilburg
Oma’s Soep is an initiative whereby volunteers make soup together with old people, to prevent loneliness. We do this by, amongst other things, organizing cooking dats, where we making soup together with the elderly. Besides that, we organize the so-called soup-at-home days, on which we deliver the soup to old people’s homes, to let them know we are thinking of them.
Of course, we do not do this on our own. Many students in Tilburg want to help us with this. We get in contact with them via social media, after which they help us run the cooking days as smoothly as possible. While this is of course a lot of fun, the bond between the young and old is strengthened at the same time. We often couple volunteers to old people, so they visit each other more than once, and it gets more fun every time!
Oma’s Soep is full of different initiatives to make sure the elderly (and we ourselves) have an unforgettable day. For example, we organize bingo’s and hula hoop, while enjoying a fresh bowl of soup. This creates a lot of laughter and fun conversations.
